Valentino for man

Valentino Garavani started his path in fashion at the Santa Maria Institute in Milan where he studied fashion sketching before relocating to Paris to study fashion at the École des Beaux-Arts. He won a fashion design competition that resulted in a job offer at Jean Dessès couture salon. Upon his return to Rome in 1960, he founded his namesake brand with the financial backing of his father and his father’s associates. While shooting Cleopatra, Elizabeth Taylor saw Valentino’s work and immediately ordered a white dress from the designer which she wore to the Spartacus premiere. The brand rocketed to fame, where it’s remained for the last 60 or so years.
